On 4 August, Friday, the Multi-Purpose Hall was brought to life for an ‘out-of-this-world’ event: Astronite. Traditionally hosted by Raffles Institution’s Astronomy club, the annual soiree is where aspiring astronomers and stargazing enthusiasts come together as students to discuss and better appreciate astronomy outside of the school curriculum together.

A Tempo 2023: A Night To Remember

Filled with a variety of snazzy songs from famous films, A Tempo 2023, Raffles Symphonic Band’s annual concert, was a feast for the ears. This was the Band’s 30th A Tempo and the first A Tempo to take place in an external venue ever since the pandemic.

A Tempo 2023: Behind the Scenes

For this year’s A Tempo, also known as Raffles Symphonic Band’s annual concert, there was a great squeeze for time. Not only was this their first concert at an external venue since the pandemic, but it was also the first time in decades that the Band had decided to perform at the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF).

A Smashing Victory: Boys’ Badminton Finals 2023

On 17 May, our Raffles Boys Badminton team took on Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) (ACS(I)) for the coveted title of first place for the National School Games A Division Boys Championship 2023. Having achieved first place the past five years, the boys were under pressure to perform this feat once again.

In Medias Res: Pressing Ahead 2023

With the advent of social media and short-form content, journalists nowadays have a greater variety of ways to present and disseminate their stories and better engage their audience. Understanding how to effectively utilise the tools at our disposal, while keeping up with trends to tell interesting and nuanced stories, is the foundation of quality journalism. However, in order to truly understand the ever-evolving landscape of modern journalism, we have to immerse ourselves ‘in the midst of things’, which is the theme of this year’s Pressing Ahead, an inter-JC conference for student journalists.
