Cricket – A gentleman’s game played by millions all over the globe, and one of Raffles Institution’s oldest CCAs. With 11 players on each team, this game is truly the epitome of a team sport with players batting, bowling and fielding in tandem to achieve the common goal of victory.

We here at Raffles Cricket are no different. Every single member of the Raffles Cricket team is driven by the desire of victory and motivated by a unique passion and interest for the game. We give it our 100% on the field week in, week out during training and matches.

Rather than just playing to win and to bring glory to our school, we also play for each other, which makes all the difference at the end of the day. Trainings are tough, but the amount of fun we have whilst playing the game with each other makes the effort all worth it. With the assistance and guidance of our able and caring coaches, we hone our cricketing skill to the best of our ability during our weekly training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30pm. The members of Raffles Cricket share a great camaraderie on and off the field which is what brings out the best of us on the field.

Celebrating our victory together as one team

We participate in the annual Inter-Schools National ‘A’ Division Championship as well as an 8-a-side competition organized by the Singapore Cricket Association. We also play loads of friendly matches which allows us to hone our skills outside of training and prepare ourselves well for the official competitions. All our members put in their utmost effort in training which is ultimately what leads to success during the big games. While training is demanding physically and mentally, we believe in fighting through the temporary pain in order to achieve the desired results at the end of the day. One is perfect for this CCA as long as they have an interest in the game and are willing to put in the work to be the best cricketer they can be, not just for themselves, but also for their teammates. Trials will be conducted to judge applicant cricketing skills in the departments of batting, bowling and fielding.

The game of cricket consists of many different components (such as batting, bowling and fielding). Since each component is an integral part of the game we play, our training sessions focus of honing these skills in every single individual.

In 2018, we performed to the best of our ability and clinched both the Inter-schools A Division title as well as the SCA 8-Aside title. We look forward to welcoming you aboard our journey to defend both our titles in 2019!
