CCA Previews ’23: Table Tennis

Reading Time: 3 minutes

By Xu Han (Boys’ Captain), Jade Ng (Girls’ Captain), Zennieve Tan Shiqi (Girls’ Vice Captain), Alvin Au (Boys’ Vice Captain)

The atmosphere freezes as everyone holds their breath. The final point. The point that would earn us victory. The point that would allow us to stand the highest on the podium. The ball is served and it flashes back and forth, with both players keeping up with immense speed, reflexes and agility. With the final swing, the Rafflesian puts all his strength onto the ball. One bounce on the other side of the table, and the ball lands on the floor. The stadium erupts into chaos and deafening cheers as his teammates rush into the court, embracing the player with such enthusiasm that makes it hard for him to breathe.

CCA Previews ’23: Sailing

Reading Time: 5 minutes

By Faith Ning Koy (Captain) and Keenan Cheung (Vice-Captain)

Y5 and Y6 sailors posing smartly with our coach before competing in NSG 2022 (the sailors in the back row are tall: we are not tiptoeing)

When you think of sailing, what comes to mind? Popeye the Sailor Man, or Pirates of the Caribbean? Take this mental image of a sailboat, shrink it and paint the boat white; now you’ve got yourself picturing a modern sailboat! We completely empathise with your fright, and implore you to give our CCA the chance to help turn that fear into a strength!

Hi! We are Soccer (Girls)! We love to play and have fun!

And there most definitely will be times when you get shoved so hard you pause to think about what sport you’re actually playing. Nevertheless, there is no greater satisfaction than the sound a football makes as it finds its way into the back of a net and the dumbfounded expressions of your teammates when you score the most absurd goals. (Of course, other than laughing at your batchmates’ most ridiculous falls.)

Hey! You!

Ever wondered what it’s like to try a new team sport? Raffles Ultimate (RU) might just be the place for you!

Ultimate is a non-contact, self-refereed team sport, involving 7 players in a team. Through communication and persistence, the team will have to successfully pass the disc to a teammate in the end-zone to score a point.
