When you think of Track and Field, what comes to mind? A bunch of people running at the track everyday, perhaps jumping or throwing? Or during match support at the annual National Schools Track and Field Championships in April: the show off of a multitude of talent and skills, the setting of new records, the receiving of medals and glory? However, the truth is: Track and Field is much more than that.

CCA Previews’ 19: Touch Rugby

Perhaps what best encapsulates the spirit of Raffles Touch is one of our coach’s favourite refrains, that you will catch the ball if you want it badly enough. She believes it’s all in the mind, and we on our end believe the same — and because we believe the same, we push ourselves to try our hardest at every training, every drill, every dive.

CCA Previews’ 19: Tenpin Bowling

Contrary to popular belief, mad arm strength isn’t a requirement for good bowlers. Instead, technique, your knowledge of your personalised equipment, and your ability to be agile and flexible in adjusting according to the lane conditions (oiling etc) are the more important factors that contribute to good and consistent shots.

CCA Previews ’19: Astronomy Club

Being an astronomer is not easy. It is intense, it is demanding, it is tiring. You will have to stay up late. You will have to deal with the weather. You will have to deal with being in the most light-polluted country on Earth. From the get go, our CCA trial will be held at night, from 6.30 to 9.30. You will have to free up your Friday nights. Once you are in the CCA, events will come at you once every month. You will have to catch up on the knowledge required. You will have to move heavy telescopes. You will not only be physically exhausted, but also mentally exhausted. We are not doing astrology; there is no wishing upon a star, no palm reading or tarot cards, no birth chart wheels.
