As Percy W. Harris once remarked, “skill in photography is acquired by practice and not by purchase”. In Raffles Photographic Society, we aim to hone our members’ photography skills and inculcate values such as creativity and passion for learning through fun and enriching CCA sessions!

CCA Previews ’22: Chinese Orchestra

What is a Chinese Orchestra? At first thought, one might think of the loud crashing sounds of cymbals and the shrieking trumpet noises heard during Chinese New Year. Come visit RICO, and you’ll discover that it is so much more! Raffles Institution Chinese Orchestra (Y5-6), or RICO for short, isn’t your typical Chinese orchestra. We are a 60-member orchestra, where all of us are musicians brought together by our passion for making music, especially Chinese music!

This year, Raffles Reviews is honoured to receive books and support from the Literature-loving folks over at Singapore’s beloved local bookstore, BooksActually!

We thought we couldn’t be happier receiving books from our favourite independent bookstore until the folks from Writer’s Guild – RI’s very own club for all things Lit –agreed to contribute to these monthly reviews.

In this joint effort to promote Singaporean Literature, we have reviewed three local books from BooksActually, and our Guild collaborators have recommended a SingLit Pick of the Month for our beloved readers.

Right on Track: Track Finals 2017

With their peers cheering them on, the finalists took to the track at the National Stadium on 28 April, each hoping to deliver their best performance of the season. Despite the rowdiness of the crowd and the overwhelming uncertainty, the athletes still glowed with confidence and stood elegantly in front of the crowd.
