What does a night at the opera bring to mind? 

Hundreds of people sitting stone-faced in a cavernous concert hall, silently immersing themselves in the music of ages long past? A stuffy, esoteric pursuit of cultural enlightenment for only the initiated? An overall solemn, purely intellectual affair with little room for fun? 

As it turns out, that isn’t all there is to it. 

We went down to the Esplanade last month, looking to spend a night at the opera with this lovely lady.

When you think of fairytale adventures, what do you imagine? Pixies, gnomes, dragons, unicorns—basically any creature from Western mythology—usually come to mind, thanks to the popularity of works from the likes of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. 

Casting these aside, Mist-Bound: How to Glue Back Grandpa daringly taps into a repository of lesser-known, yet equally interesting mythical creatures hailing from legends originating in South-East Asia.

Is MBTI Legitimate?

50% of RI students believe that MBTI (Myer-Briggs Type Indicator) is an accurate representation of themselves. 

That’s the result of a survey that we recently conducted. While this percentage may seem large (or small, depending on who you talk to), it’s a nod to the growing popularity and trust Rafflesians have in this personality diagnosis.

From Teddy Lovers to Teddy Superfans: the People Behind @RafflesTeddy

“Teddy, stop moving!” exclaimed Yee Shao Hua (23S02A), as he attempted to get Teddy to stand still. “We usually have the opposite problem. Usually he doesn’t move at all.”

Shao Hua is one of the three people responsible for running the @rafflesteddy account on Instagram. Along with former students Rachel Lim (21S06J) and Xe Anong (21S06B), he takes photos of Teddy and uploads them onto the account. Having accumulated over 3000 followers over a span of 3 years, it is quite clear that their account (and by extension Teddy) is very popular amongst both present and former students.
