CCA Previews ’26: Raffles Society of Biological Sciences

Reading Time: 4 minutes

By RSBS EXCO ‘26

Most people think Biology lives in labs and textbooks. At the Raffles Society of Biological Sciences (RSBS), otherwise affectionately known as BioSoc, we know better. It’s in the flutter of a butterfly’s wing, the blooming of a flower, the pulse of curiosity upon witnessing something wonderful. If you have ever stopped to ponder why or how something is alive, you’re already one of us.

“Mathematics”.

Just the mention of this word and immediately, your mind conjures up the excruciating emotions engendered by the rote, excessive and seemingly pointless exercises of H2 Mathematics.

Click clack click clack… “I’m in!”.

If you’ve watched movies and seen their coders, you might assume every coder is an energy-drink-chugging, midnight-oil-burning tech wizard who cracks complex algorithms with a few keystrokes and a couple lines of neon green.

While reality may be far from that (our computer labs are well lit and smell great!), it is no less fascinating to learn about computer science and all the amazing things you can do with it. Join us at CSS where we blend the thrill of tech with a vibrant, supportive community, making learning to code both exciting and enjoyable!

CCA Previews ‘26: Fencing

Reading Time: 3 minutes

By Mr Jason Teo (Fencing Teacher IC)

Picture this: you’re facing your opponent, waiting for the referee’s call. Your body is coiled like a spring, with every muscle primed and ready to go as soon as the round begins.

“En garde, prêts, allez!”

You’re already exploding into motion as the final word hangs in the air, capitalising on your quick start to score an early lead. You lunge forward, with instinct guiding your blade as you parry your opponent and strike directly at their now-unguarded chest. Point to you. Beneath your mask, you’re smiling with satisfaction, already mapping out new plans for the next time you cross blades.
