Special Edition: Teachers’ Day 2022

Reading Time: 2 minutes

By Raffles Press ’23
Foreword by Anamika Ragu (23A01A), Chairperson, Raffles Press ’23

Teaching seems to be quite the endeavour.

Like every job, it must have its own ups and downs; marking a legible paper with precise terminology you spent weeks drilling into students’ minds and a (highly flattering) moment of fame whilst opening your inbox and finding— sandwiched between consult requests— an email from a Raffles Press reporter hounding you for an interview about your life. Special Edition: TouRIsts

Reading Time: < 1 minute

By Raffles Press ’22

Foreword by Mei Feifei (22A13A), Chairperson, Raffles Press ‘ 22

Although we may technically be a school press, we at Raffles Press constantly seek to expand our horizons beyond Raja Block and the Marymount gate to venture into unexplored territory. This is why our journalists have taken full advantage of the easing of community measures to head out into various corners of Singapore over the past few months.

We are proud to present to you TouRIsts — a special edition in which you can find reviews of trails, parks, museums, dining establishments, and everything in between. We hope you will have as much fun reading as we did writing.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the views as we take you on a tour to inspire and perspire!

The rest of us began to venture into the park while waiting. We were certainly not alone, having been  accompanied by bird watchers and other park explorers. The park turned out to be an excellent place for bird spotting (for those with eagle eyes), among other things.

TouRIsts: Ann Siang Hill & Telok Ayer Green Park

Reading Time: 5 minutes

By Chern Huan Yee (22S06A), Chung Thong En (22S06N) and Jason Sutio (22S06U)

Ann Siang Hill and its neighbouring Telok Ayer Green Park allow you to take a breather from the stresses of the future… by escaping to the past.

The Chinatown-Telok Ayer area might be more well-known for its markets and food, but you should not miss the two parks it contains that preserve the old Singapore in the middle of urban development.
