Sport is fair game. Luck isn’t. We all know that. Even so, athletes give all they have to training. They sacrifice time, slog under the hot sun, and sculpt their bodies into tools for victory, all for the hope of receiving back what they put into a sport. But despite all their efforts, it’s often that all they can do is flip the coin and see where it lands.
This was no different for the Girls’ basketball team.

One word to describe RI’s softball team? Aura. Staying undefeated for the 4th year in a row? Even more aura.
The RI Softball boys team were runners-up in the 2018 and 2019 A Division finals until NSG was suspended during Covid. But ever since NSG resumed in 2022, the RI team has been on a win streak, facing rivals EJC. The EJC and RI softball boys have met each other in the A Division Finals every year since 2022, and in this year alone, the finals would be their third time facing them.

They were knocked out in the Preliminary Group Stage last year.
And the year before that. And the year before that.
The Raffles Basketball Boys’ Team last won the A Division Championships in 2016, and they had been no favourite to win this year. Being one of the shortest basketball teams in the A Division, they opened their 2025 season on 9 April with a loss against ACSI.

As the swimmers take their places on the starting blocks, the air is buzzing with anticipation and nerves. In that moment, the pool transforms into a stage of determination, skill and sheer willpower, with the countless years spent training leading up to this very moment. The silence is quickly interrupted by the sharp sound of the beep, followed by the loud splash of bodies diving into the waters in perfect synchronisation.
With every stroke meticulously executed, their kicks and breaths— perfected through the numerous hours in the pool— are precise calculations. This year, Raffles Press is proud to announce that the RI Swim Team has achieved 1st in the Girls’ category and 2nd in the Boys’ category overall.
