Sports Recreational Club is a CCA where we learn and play many different sports. We conduct PE-like modules, where members have the chance to experience and develop interests in the respective sports. Members can pick the sports they wish to experience through a vote that is conducted after every module.

What comes to mind when you think about tennis? Is it just chasing a ball with a racket? Non-tennis players like to crack this joke, and it couldn’t be further from the truth. Tennis is a beautiful game which puts every aspect of an individual to the test. It is a holistic sport which builds players physically, mentally, and emotionally. When playing a game of tennis, every muscle works hard. Your legs explode to sprint for the ball while your abdominals join your arms to whack the ball at your opponent. Additionally, don’t forget the mental muscle: tennis is highly strategic and requires a sound tactical mind.

Contrary to popular belief, netball is not a girl’s version of basketball.
A high-intensity sport involving 7 players per team, netball differs greatly from its ‘sister’ sport of women’s basketball because it bars dribbling, bouncing, and running while in possession of the ball. In addition, netball not only identifies the different positions of its players, but also defines where and in which areas of the court specific players are allowed to be when they compete. Consequently, netball more heavily emphasises accurate passing, positioning and timing.
That breathy “thank you” and relieved sigh coming from an injured player as you swiftly and deftly tend to their fresh wound, putting months of practice into play. That little smile that gradually grows as you continue conversing with an elderly person, both folding the next piece of origami together. That overwhelming sense of satisfaction as students pour into the blood donation venue, as your weeks’ worth of planning has been a success. Those experiences may just last for a moment, but they stick with our members for a lifetime. If they interest you, Red Cross Youth Chapters (RCYC) is just the place for you!
