Next Monday, Raffles Jazz will be holding their concert, Replay! With Replay, Raffles Jazz will take us deeper into the well-loved fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood, where we will find out what really happened in her fateful encounter in her grandmother’s house. Unfortunately, tickets have already sold out—and within 50 minutes to boot! No doubt you have noticed their creepy yet extremely well-designed posters around school, which have contributed to much of the hype over Replay. Thankfully, we do not have long to wait! Raffles Press visits the President of Raffles Jazz, Priscilla Goh, to find out more about Replay.

Preview: AnyBody Can Dance

Everyone in RI knows what’s coming up this Friday and Saturday—Raffles Street Dance (or Street, as the CCA is affectionately known) is organising their first ever concert, AnyBody Can Dance (ABCD)! Tickets reportedly sold out within 3 hours, testament to how excited everyone is about their concert. Not only have their great posters (see example above) called attention to the upcoming dance extravaganza, but their ingenious publicity videos (see example below!) with catchy music and interesting concepts have also contributed to the concert’s popularity. Raffles Press takes a look behind the scenes of ABCD, in an interview with Amanda Law, President of Raffles Street Dance.

Raffles Rhapsody

Raffles Rhapsody 2012, in Mrs Lim Lai Cheng’s words, was a ‘passionate and enthusiastic expression of feelings and emotions’. Its goal was to showcase the talented performing arts CCAs in RI, and achieve that goal it did. Initial reactions towards the event were mixed (grouses ranged from expensive ticket prices to the short performance times for all CCAs involved), but as it neared 20 April, there was no doubt that Rhapsody looked set to be an event of great proportions. Combining efforts from all the performing arts CCAs in RI and the 31st Students’ Council and held in NUS’ University Cultural Centre, it was clear Raffles Rhapsody was not just another school concert.
