Have you ever heard of or watched the mega-hit show Street Woman Fighter? Become fans of famous dancers like Bada Lee and Kirsten Dodgen? Has that made you wonder about what the world of street dance looks like? Well, we may not be professionals with the answer, but here’s a glimpse of street dance as a CCA in our eyes!
For us, it’s more than just dance — it’s a safe space where we grow and learn together. We push our limits, not just through technical drills, but in our artistic growth too. It’s a constant search to connect mind, body and music. The best part? We get to share this evolution through our performance opportunities. It is through these where we build qualities like teamwork and leadership that we take with us outside the studio.
The first major performance the Year 5s take part in is Founders’ Day, where dancers get the chance to put up a performance in front of esteemed guests, staff, and students. This event not only serves as a platform to build confidence and foster teamwork, but our dancers also get to contribute to the school’s proud tradition of celebrating its history and values.
This year, the Year 5s also had the opportunity to take part in the Lion City Dance Convention (Open Category) with a performance titled “Unity: Better Together”, choreographed by our dance instructor Ms Stefanie Leong, and 2 students from the Batch of 2026, Meshana Rakesh Venkatesen (26S03E) and Saliha Z Zaib (26S03C).
Every beat, move, and moment reflected months of dedication, teamwork, and love for dance. Through our hard work and synergy with each other, we were able to share the stage with professional dance crews and dancers from all over the world, from South Korea to the Philippines, providing every RSD dancer with a rich and eye-opening experience.

In Year 6, the graduating batch will get the opportunity to choreograph an item for our annual showcase! This highly anticipated event is one of our biggest events of the year, and the chance to create a piece for it is both exciting and deeply meaningful. It provides every dancer with the creative freedom to explore different styles, experiment with movements, and bring our own ideas to life on stage, while also pushing us to step out of our comfort zones.
Beyond the artistry, the process of choreographing teaches us patience, adaptability, and how to communicate our vision clearly to others. It is also a valuable opportunity to develop our leadership skills, work closely with our fellow dancers, and strengthen the bonds within the team. Most importantly, it allows us to share a piece of ourselves with the audience through dance, making Year 6s’ final year in the CCA an unforgettable and personal journey.

We enter the CCA with solo rhythms, and leave with bruised knees, tear-jerking laughter, and confidence that comes from creating something greater than ourselves. This warm shared community helps every dancer to get through the training sessions and intense seasons, with our shared passion for dance and each other.
Our CCA sessions are conducted on Mondays, from 4:30pm-6:30pm at the Multi-Purpose Studio, and Wednesdays, from 9:00am-11:00am at the Black Studio. Sessions are guided and taught by our experienced street dance instructor, Ms Stefanie Leong.
In a typical session, we start off with warm ups, followed by physical training in order to enhance performance, build strength, and reduce the risk of injuries. After this, we practice drills to improve our technique and practise for any performances or competitions we have coming up.
If you’re worried about requiring prior dance experience, fret not! All you need is yourself and a love for dance you’re willing to share with everyone. We guarantee that you’ll grow not only in your dance abilities, but also in your love for dance while learning much more about yourself.
Everyone who joins RSD leaves with lasting memories, cherished friendships, and a deep sense of pride in how far they’ve grown—not just as dancers, but as individuals. They carry with them the skills, confidence, and passion cultivated through countless hours of practice, collaboration, and performance, along with the joy of having been part of a vibrant, supportive community that feels like family.
So what are you waiting for? Come join RSD, and be part of a journey filled with creativity, growth, and unforgettable moments—both on and off the stage!
