CCA Previews ‘26: Cricket

Reading Time: 2 minutes

By Neil Chaturvedi (26S05B, Captain) and Kathir Sathish (26S06H, Vice-Captain)

There’s something special about cricket— the crisp sound of leather bouncing off the willow of the bat, the adrenaline of chasing down a ball across the field, and the satisfaction from a perfectly timed shot. But aside from the action, it’s the friendships, shared victories, losses and team lessons that make the sport truly memorable.

At Raffles, cricket is more than just a game, it’s tradition. As the school’s very first sports CCA, Raffles Cricket carries a proud legacy, one built on teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Our members train not just to compete, but to display the values of sportsmanship and respect.

Training sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday, from 5pm to 7pm at the Y1–4 Rugby field. These practices are purposeful, from nets practice and match-scenarios to training skills in batting, bowling, and fielding. Every player, regardless of experience and skill, is pushed to give their best effort and grow in both confidence and ability. These trainings also provide time to unwind and relax with teammates. Many fond memories of our JC life have been from the times we’ve spent after CCA walking home together.

Regular friendly matches give us the chance to test our skills in real-game situations, adapt tactics on the fly while strengthening team bonding. Each game is a stepping stone, a chance to improve, learn, and return to training with renewed purpose.
