This Teacher’s Day, Raffles Press took a blast from the past — we reached out to four current RI teachers who previously were RI students. What was RI like back then? How did their school life differ from us? 

Armed with a camera, a mic and some burning questions, we set out to find the answers to these questions. 

Introducing the teachers: 

Class of 1997: Mr Carlsen Tay. Currently the Basketball Teacher I/C, he actually entered RI as a Track and Field DSA student. 

Class of 1998: Ms Lye Su Lin. A literature teacher whose love for the arts still remains from her days in RJC. 

Class of 2001: Ms Wee Seok Hui. Biology and Chamber Ensemble teacher, she was actually from Fencing and liked Math the most back in her day. 

Class of 2002: Mr Jason Tan. Unlike Ms Wee, his love for Chemistry and Symphonic Band remain to this day.
