CLARIFICATION: Raffles Press would like to clarify that we do not condone violations of RI’s Code of Conduct (COC). Our organisational description states that “we seek to conduct our work in line with Rafflesian values and ethos”. We would like to draw our readers’ attention to the following clauses of the COC (2012 Ed.)

6.1 “Students are to wear the prescribed school uniform and modification to the uniform is not allowed.”

6.2 “Students are expected to be smartly dressed when on the school premises in any public place.”

6.4 “All students are to ensure that their shorts/long trousers/skirts are not oversized or too tight. Students are to carry out any necessary alteration to ensure that they conform to the school’s standards.”

In other words, students should only alter but should not modify the school uniform.

Following a thorough review, we have found that the suggestions provided in the following article are consistent with the above clauses. Nonetheless, readers should bear these clauses in mind when reading the article. When in doubt, readers are advised to consult the COC. Readers may direct all queries to members of the School Discipline Committee.

It’s an unlikely marriage of convenience—an institution which purports to be the promise of the Hope of a Better Age, side-by-side the home of the departed. This Halloween, Raffles Press looks beyond the narrow confines of RI’s compound to check out the intersection between space for the living and for the dead.

Three Cheers for H3: Should I Even Consider It?

Reading Time: 3 minutes

By Kimberley Yeo (13S05B)

ETA: This post has been amended on 15 October 2014 to reflect that the SMU H3 Game Theory module is no longer available, while the MOE Pharma Chem module is most popular. Read our previous feature on H3 History here.

With the impending release of the Y5 Promotional Examination results, many of us will now plunge into the craze of applying for H3s. (The rest of us will just be contented to stay out of the rush.)

So we’ve heard what is being offered and now we wonder: ‘Should I take an internal or external H3?’ ‘What’s in it for me?’ ‘Should I even bother applying?’ Chia Jia Jin (12S06F) has very kindly taken time off his Mega Mugging Madness to give Press the lowdown on these H3s.
