For Faith Ho (22A01A), getting to know stories from communities outside of her own has always been the core of her motivation for service. A narrative-driven person, she feels that stories are the bridges between people. “I’ve always wanted to get out of the bubble I was in. In JC, we’re often caught up with schoolwork and commitments, but there’s a much bigger world out there and it’s worth it to step out and talk to different people.”

Nadra has had a penchant for science for most of her life. Fascinated with the way reactions occur in chemistry, she has always worked towards a career in medicine. She describes studying the way certain drugs are capable of reacting with the body and treating diseases with a smile.

How do you get lychee mocktails, Rafflesians young and old, and provocation to convene under one roof? Three opportune nights, years in the making, somewhere near the heart of RI— Albert Hong Hall.

The Festival of Ideas (FOI) was a huge event that garnered incredible levels of attention, from students, alumni, members of the public, and prominent figures in various industries alike. Sentiments ranged from the festival being “So RI” (inviting all possible connotations of the label) to it being a smashing, and almost revolutionary, success.

Festival of Ideas 2023: Leaders in Sustainability

A day filled with possibility, wonder and reflection, Day 2 of the Festival of Ideas (FOI) welcomed a series of sustainability experts eager to share their visions for a long-lasting future. 

The novelty of the FOI experience, which incorporated both the thoughtfulness of an academic dialogue and the lively atmosphere of a concert, made it exciting for speakers and audience members alike.
