Down to the Last Set: Boys’ Badminton Finals 2024

Picture this: The boys’ Badminton team huddled in a circle, tense whispers exchanged back and forth. Intuitively, you think that they were giving each other pep talks before the game started. But no, that wasn’t what they were doing—they were actually finalising the lineup that would be competing against their longtime rival, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) (ACSI), just half an hour before the finals began. 

Turns out, this was because almost half of the team was injured, and they had to decide the lineup based on these players’ conditions on the day itself. However, the team wasn’t just faced with this one challenge in their fight to the finals this year.

Playing from the Heart: Girls’ Badminton Finals 2024

An unusual number of Rafflesians gathered in the National Stadium’s OCBC Arena Hall on 8 May, bubbling with anticipation and excitement. 

The special occasion? The Badminton NSG Finals. 

It’s our girls’ team up against Hwa Chong Institution, who have been our rivals for many years. The stakes are high—we’ve defended our title as champions since 2016. Still though, it’s uncertain which side of the net the shuttlecock would fall on this time. Things are different every year, and the lead-up to the finals have been especially rocky this NSG season.

After 9 Years, RI Tennis Boys Returns With the Gold

The battle began at dawn. On 9 May 2024, the boys were hard at work, practising at the courts that will soon hold their final match against ACSI. Spectators need not be proficient in Tennis to know that the stakes are high–it’s been nine years since RI’s Tennis Boys team last clinched the Gold.

To Yearn and Never to Yield: Rugby NSG Finals 2024

Pitted against the defending champions of eight years, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) (ACSI), the odds were stacked against Raffles Institution’s (RI) Rugby team. Tensions were high at the National Stadium on Monday, 6 May, as supporters from both schools gathered to watch what was guaranteed to be a high-stakes match.
