Every athlete dreams of victory. But when you’re part of a team, victory means more than just the medal around your neck. 

On 28 May, RI’s netball team rounded off this year’s NSG season with a final match for the gold against ACJC. But as they stepped out onto the court, winning was far from the only thing on their minds.

Stick-ing Together to Stick It Out: NSG Hockey (Boys) Finals 2025

As a spectator walking into the stadium, the first scene you notice is the hockey players from both teams running laps, drenched by the sprinklers watering the pitch. The crowd is buzzing, councillors are drumming; both schools are setting the stage for one of the biggest NSG matches of the year. Then, for a moment, there is silence.

A Wondrous Wander Through Wanderland: RPROJ 2025 Showcase

Themed “Wanderland” this year, the Runway members hoped to display the concept of fantasy through their pieces, allowing their audience to break away from the mundane reality of daily life. 

“We were mainly drawn to the concept of fantasy and not being rooted in reality, because our lives are [already] quite rooted in reality and it’s quite boring. With this theme, you can go crazy, and even if you go crazy, there will be no questions asked.”

The showcase itself was the culmination of months of preparation. Throughout the process, the members encountered various challenges, from having to self-teach sewing techniques from Youtube tutorials, to contending with a tight budget.

Confronting The Inevitable: Tennis Boys NSG 2025

They didn’t expect to win this year. In fact, speaking to the squad beforehand, defeat seemed almost inevitable to the team. After successfully ending a 9-year-long drought with a win the previous year, the stakes were high once again this year–a chance to defend the title, start a winning streak of our own, and cement RI’s reputation as the winners of a bitter rivalry between two schools.

Caravan: Raffles Jazz Swings into the Spotlight

When we think of jazz, the image that often drifts to mind is gentle and subdued—the kind of mellow music that hums softly beneath dinner conversations in candlelit restaurants. Brushed cymbals, warm saxophone lines, piano notes that wander without urgency — the quiet, unobtrusive soundtrack of hotel lobbies and late-night lounges. But Caravan!—Raffles Jazz’s ARTSeason 2025 showcase—turned that image on its head. Here, jazz stepped into the spotlight not as ambience, but as art: music that twisted, teased, and transformed with every phrase.
