Wanderlust: Orientation 2025

Reading Time: < 1 minute

By Choo Zi Xuan (25S03E) and Rhea Sharma (25S06A)

An unfamiliar campus, new routines, and the buzz of Orientation waiting to unfold—just a few weeks ago, stepping into JC felt like diving into the unknown.

But now? You’ve cheered till your voice went hoarse, tackled every mass dance move (some more successfully than others), and made friendships that just might last a lifetime. Orientation wasn’t just about icebreakers and games—it was about finding your place, your people, and the energy that makes RI feel like home.

From the very first day to the last, let’s take a look back at Wanderlust 2025.

We Aren’t Really Strangers: To the ‘26 Batch

Coming into a new school can be scary. Scratch that. We’ve all tasted the anxiety and nervousness of the First Day, and felt the trepidation that laces your shoes. For the new batch of Year Fives coming into Raffles Institution on 7 February, it’s normal to feel the jitters.

New friends, new subjects, new clothes (except for the RI Y1-4 guys) – entering RI can feel positively foreign. It may take a while to familiarise yourself with the maze of lecture theatres, to figure out what canteen stall is your favourite, or to find shortcuts back home.  Luckily, you’ll have time to acclimatise yourself within the school – with Orientation.

But this video isn’t about Orientation, you cheeky Wayfinders. Rather, it’s about the people who will greet you as you don your Ori shirts for the first time. On 7 February 2025, as you step through the school gates, and walk through the corridors to Orientation, you’ll meet the House Captains and Council Presidents for the second time.

After all, once you’ve watched this video, they aren’t really strangers.

It was finally D-Day. At 8.07 am, on a Thursday, 16th May 2024, the cricket team boarded the bus to SCC Dempsey Field, oblivious to what this final match had in store for them. The bus was full of optimism and confidence.

Twenty faces beamed with smiles, and twenty hearts brimmed with hope. They were set to face their all-time rivals, ACS(I), eager to bring home the gold after five long years.

You’re sure to have watched one or two Tik Tok micro-influencers claiming that the crispy, golden-crusted waffle they bought from their neighbourhood is the “best in Singapore”. Be it below one’s HDB block, or hidden within a minimart, there are many such bakeries selling waffles to a crowd that includes teenagers just like us, who are in search of an after-school snack. You might be thinking: where, then, is the best waffle in Bishan? Find out in our video, as our writers rank waffles from three nearby bakeries!
