Rank It! A Hot Take on Mala

First there was bubble tea, then there was all things salted egg yolk, and more recently the love for coconut drinks—but one cannot talk about Singaporean students’ food fads without mentioning the all-time king, Mala Xiang Guo. 

After eating this chilli-filled, “numbingly-spicy” dish multiple times in a single day, we now have enough ammunition to spit fire from our mouths. For this reason, be assured that our article will be a spicy one.

Good Bites: Good Or Not?

On a sunny Tuesday morning, five Raffles Press members found themselves at the Bishan Sports Centre, ready for a workout of their… stomach muscles at Good Bites, a halal-certified cafe restaurant serving “delicious fusion western dishes at pocket-friendly prices”

Good Bites is about a five minutes walk from Bishan MRT station. We would advise taking the sheltered route along Bishan Street 13, instead of walking along the sun-baked Bishan Road (as Andrea and Sophie learned the hard way).

Rank It: The Tea on Bubble Tea

On the 4th of May, Raffles Press headed down to NEX to compare three bubble tea stores and the eight drinks we bought from them—Tai Gai, Yuan Cha, and PlayMade by Wan Zuo—in order to decide which of the eight would emerge superior to the others. We evaluated the drinks along the lines of taste, price, visual presentation, and most importantly—“would we buy this again?”.
