Swimming Finals Highlights (24 April)

Despite constant challenges from keen rivals such as Anglo-Chinese (Junior College) and Singapore Sports School, the Raffles Swim Team has managed to defend both boys’ and girls’ titles for 7 years running.

However, no trace of arrogance or complacency could be seen in the faces of the Rafflesian swimmers preparing to make the waters catch fire the afternoon of 24 April. Rather, their calm composure belied their confidence and determination. After all, according to boys’ captain Gerald Sim, “Swimming is not like other CCAs. There are no special pre-season preparations. It’s really just train, train and train – all year through.”

Table Tennis: You Win Some, You Lose Some

Team spirit and sporting ardour carried our A division Table Tennis players through the finals held on Tuesday 24 April, which saw the boys emerging as champions against Nanyang Junior College (NYJC), while the girls team obtained silver against long-time rival Hwa Chong Institution (HCI).

RI Soccer Girls Triumph over TJC

With two comfortable back-to-back wins over Serangoon Junior College and NUS High on their belt, the Soccer girls were looking to extend their track record with another victory over Temasek Junior College on 11 April, Wednesday. The win at the Milennia Institute field would ensure “one foot in the semis” as coach Mr Leong Chee Mun put it. This was to be the third of five matches in the group round of the Football A Div (Girls) Nationals.
