Academics have been the focus of our lives, especially in JC, where every day there is always work to be done; be it the seemingly unending lectures or the limitless tutorials. Yet, I strive for a JC life filled with lasting friendships and memories, and I doubt that I’m the only one who is eager to strike that balance between living a fulfilling JC experience and working towards academic goals.

Along the journey of finding that perfect balance, you may turn to a sports or performing arts CCA to strike that balance between work and play. Or perhaps, you may choose a less stressful CCA which provides you with more time to realise your goals such as academic goals and personal aspirations. If the latter resonates with your heart, Recreational Badminton might just be the CCA for you!

Recreational Badminton (RecBad) welcomes members from all backgrounds, providing you with weekly opportunities to develop your badminton skills alongside fellow CCA members while having fun. Without the drag of attending tough training sessions, RecBad provides you with a comfortable, yet exciting environment to share your passion for the sport with others. RecBad is the ultimate choice for badminton players of all proficiency levels to come together and bond over friendly and insightful games.

RecBad is a very inclusive CCA, with absolutely no prerequisites to join! Our members range from players who are completely new to the sport to complete badminton fanatics who watch the world best players compete against one another. You will never be “not good enough” because we’re all here to have fun without judgement.

RecBad begins inside the Indoor Sports Hall (ISH) every Wednesday at 8am, where we begin the session by setting up the courts and taking attendance. Due to the nature of our CCA, we do not regulate your plays. You can choose to play singles, doubles, or even more, and you can do all sorts of funny things, such as playing badminton with volleyball rulesets, at your own discretion (provided safety is not compromised, of course)!

There is truly so much to gain from RecBad. Beyond simply enjoying the sport, RecBad is a congregation of a diverse group of people, with many focusing on other commitments such as VIAs and enrichment classes.

So, grab a badminton racquet, and reignite your passion for the sport, because we are just as excited to have you onboard and would love to have you join our vibrant community! Come join us! (Slots run out quick, so be quicker!)
