The Raffles Malay Cultural Society (MCS) may not be known to many, but we are a tight-knit community of individuals who are both friendly and diverse. We are bound by the common passion for exploring and preserving the rich and colourful Malay culture. If you don’t catch us playing Chapteh, we might be doing Malay dance, playing the angklung or kompang, or just chilling and watching Malay movies together. Most importantly, we are always having tons of fun!
We have plenty of exciting activities, ranging from our annual Raffles Raya celebration to organising a Chapteh Competition for Team Raffles Games (TRG). Whether it be playing, chatting, or eating together, all our activities serve as opportunities for us to get to know each other and strengthen the bonds within our small but close-knit community here in RI.
Anyone, regardless of background, is welcome to join us. Yes, you don’t even need to be Malay or know the Malay Language!
There are many opportunities to participate in various Malay cultural activities and to compete in various competitions, most notably the National Debates Championships, where we have done quite well over the years.
Interested? We look forward to seeing you. Our doors are always open.
