Have you ever yearned to be part of a sport that seamlessly blends grace and power, where the crack of the bat resonates like a symphony of success? Can you envision yourself standing on the lush green field, surrounded by teammates who share not just a game but also strong camaraderie?
Well, if you answered yes to any of these questions, Raffles Cricket welcomes you with open arms!
Cricket as a CCA holds a distinctive and cherished place in Raffles Institution, fostering a unique sense of camaraderie, discipline, and sportsmanship among its participants.
Known to be the first CCA set up in Raffles Institution, Raffles Cricket goes beyond the boundaries of mere extracurricular pursuit; it provides an opportunity for students to not only hone their cricketing skills, but also cultivate values that are integral to the Institution.
The CCA instils in its members a deep appreciation for teamwork, strategic thinking, and resilience. The coaching staff’s dedication to nurturing both the technical prowess and character development of the players further enhances the appeal of Cricket as a CCA in Raffles Institution, creating an environment where young talents can flourish both on and off the field.
To hone our players to the best versions of themselves, Raffles Cricket trains twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4.30-6.30pm at the Y1-4 Rugby field. We spend our time giving nothing short of 100% effort in our net sessions, game-scenario practices as well as skill-development sessions in all aspects of the game. The fitness of our players is paramount to our success, and that is why we have a gym session on Fridays from 4.30-6.30pm at the Y5-6 gym.
Moreover, we also participate in friendly matches regularly, fostering a dynamic environment for team improvement. These matches provide a crucial platform for us to apply and refine our skills in a competitive setting while allowing us to gain valuable match experience.
The friendly fixtures serve as a testing ground for strategic adaptations, encouraging us to think on our feet and collaborate seamlessly. The iterative process of playing, analysing, and learning from these matches becomes instrumental in the continuous improvement of our cricket team, enhancing both individual abilities and the collective prowess of the group.
All these programmes aid in our preparation for the annual Inter-School ‘A’ Division Boys’ Cricket Championships organised by the Singapore Cricket Association (SCA).
Training is always an anticipated time for our team members, where we can escape from stressful JC life and improve our skills together. At the same time, we can simultaneously push each other to develop ourselves, both as individuals and as a team, and enjoy each other’s invaluable company!
Hence, if you find yourself wanting to be part of an inclusive team and to truly experience the pride, privilege, and excitement of being a Raffles Cricketer, then we hope to see you join our vibrant cricket family! With no prerequisites for joining the CCA, the Raffles Cricket team welcomes you with open arms.
