Friendship is Family: FAM 2021

Kicking off Friendship Appreciation Week on Tuesday was a concert by Raffles Jazz. The Amphitheatre steps were filled with socially-distanced students drawn by the promise of live music. The crowd, which extended to the benches behind and the levels above, waited in eager anticipation for the concert—and were rewarded by Jazz’s rich and soulful melodies.

Drawing from their existing repertoire, Jazz played three famous standards: “Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra and two Stevie Wonder hits, “For Once in My Life” and “Isn’t She Lovely”. According to Jazz member Benjamin Silver Matthew (21A13A), these songs were chosen for their popularity within the school population.

AstroNite: Fiestar

You can’t see the stars in Singapore—or so you thought! If you ever thought this way, be prepared to be proven wrong by what went down at AstroNite 2019—Astronomy Club’s showcase of the fascinating science that opened a window to all its richness, even for the clueless layman (much like us).

RPROJ’19: RISE

The usual hustle and bustle of Bugis Street would have given no hint of a special event to the unsuspecting shopper. The only giveaway was the peppy chatter of fashionably dressed students streaming into the obscure but grand Joyden Hall, nestled right above Bugis+. As students hurried to find a seat in the visibly popular venue, ushers decked in impressive ensembles and flawless makeup greeted them with a photobook documenting the year-long fruition of Raffles Runway’s efforts—‘RISE’.

Seeing Beyond Disability: Live in the Dark 2019

Maybe you aren’t scared of the dark—you wouldn’t even flinch if the lights were switched off suddenly, plunging you into all-consuming darkness. But what if this darkness only enveloped you, forcing you to live like this for days and nights on end? What things might you miss? How drastically different would your daily life be? How badly would you long to see light again?
