Clinching the Gold: Tennis Girls’ NSG 2023

On 11 May 2023, the back and forth of the tennis ball reverberated around the courts. As the sound punctuated the still air, the spectators held their breath: who would get the next point, Hwa Chong or Raffles?

It wasn’t an easy fight. Every time a point was scored, the audience erupted into raucous cheers. Eagle-eyed supporters craned their necks, not wanting to miss a single rally. Even with the racket created by a nearby grass cutter, the spectators’ cheers were strong, loud and unyielding. The intense atmosphere was clearly evident, with both sides determined to win.

With the advent of social media and short-form content, journalists nowadays have a greater variety of ways to present and disseminate their stories and better engage their audience. Understanding how to effectively utilise the tools at our disposal, while keeping up with trends to tell interesting and nuanced stories, is the foundation of quality journalism. However, in order to truly understand the ever-evolving landscape of modern journalism, we have to immerse ourselves ‘in the midst of things’, which is the theme of this year’s Pressing Ahead, an inter-JC conference for student journalists.

BREAKING NEWS: RI’s Largest-Ever Homeroom Reshuffle

There’s a price tag on everything. For RI’s upcoming major renovations and installations, the price tag is significantly heftier: a rotational displacement of classes. 

The constant droning of equipment within the school grounds should have signalled to everyone that renovations are underway in several parts of the school. From Block A to Block J, this process is a large-scale one that will spill over from the holidays and affect the daily lives of Rafflesians.
