NAME: MS JUNIPER THANG
DEPARTMENT: CHEMISTRY

Y5 Chemistry teacher Ms Juniper Thang has more than a few tricks up her sleeve. Apart from being a proud Chemistry enthusiast, she also loves to immerse herself in the wonders of music and theatre. Apart from that, she has a passion for sport, and as the Soccer (Girls) teacher-in-charge, she will often join them in friendly matches.

Ms Thang’s passion for music began as a young child when she took part in piano lessons, a common beginning for many of us in the music world. She wound up writing about all sorts of eclectic topics—according to her, “that’s what makes music fun!”

Amidst the tropical showers of May, the previously dormant RI arts scene sprang back to life in an explosion of colour. The next two weeks saw a flourish of showcases and displays by the various arts CCAs, with the Arts Assembly on the 5th of May properly kicking things off.

As we all scrambled to identify our classmates on the projector screens, we were treated to a myriad of dazzling performances that synthesised both the technical and the emotive. Infused with good humour from the emcees, as well as insights into the inner workings of the performing arts CCAS, the Assembly was a truly wondrous showcase of the talents RI had in store. The CCAs featured were Modern Dance, Guitar Ensemble, Chorale, Players and Jazz.

Demystifying the RI Finance Bro

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that Singapore is a money-centric society.”

Boris Liu (23A01A)

The trope of the Finance Bro (also known as Crypto Bro) means nothing good on the Internet. Images of the Original Finance Bros come to mind, the likes of Elon Musk, Warren Buffet and the Wolf of Wall Street himself.

However, thanks to globalisation or just chronically-online entrepreneurial chancers, the label has wormed its way into the hallowed halls of Raffles Institution, culminating in a micro-epidemic that has plagued the great minds of the future.
